Reconstruction of a Trade Port Berth in Murmansk

About the project

Berth No. 2 in Murmansk was built in 1916. The last reconstruction was carried out in 1972. The new reconstruction was carried out within the framework of a public‑private partnership under the federal project for the development of seaports. The renovated berth has a length of 284.4 m, a width of 40 m, and a depth at the quay wall of 14.8 m. The design capacity is more than 1.5 million tons of coal per year. The berth is capable of servicing vessels with a length of 235 m, width of 38 m, and draft of 14.5 m. The first Ultramax‑class vessel moored on 9 February 2024.

Work period: November 2021 – March 2022

Larssen Piling carried out the reconstruction of Berth No. 2 in the commercial port of Murmansk. The project included a complete replacement of the berthing wall, the construction of a new anchor wall, and all associated works. The project was carried out in harsh winter conditions, which gave new unique experience.
